Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima popularly known as King Kaka has started the year's Mother's Day celebrations on a high note, revealing that he built his mother a lavish home as a way of honoring a promise he made to her while he was growing up.

The rapper took to his social media accounts and shared the photos of the beautiful home which he accompanied with a heartwarming note celebrating his mother, recounting the difficult upbringing he had owing to a lack of adequate finances in his family, which often saw them fail to come up with rent for their home.

"One day I came home from school and Kanjo had placed a very big padlock because we couldn’t afford to pay Kshs 500 rent, I promised my mom that in the future  I’ll buy her a house. Fast forward 4days ago we just prayed in the living room of this house that I build for her," the statement read in part.

"The sounds of testimony and I am happy that she has a place she can call home. Thank you mom for putting on a brave face over the years even when I knew things were not okay. Asante and be blessed," he wrote.

The 'Ligi Soo' hitmaker has been vocal about his difficult upbringing, with his father passing when he was very young and the burden of care falling on his mother's shoulders. She was a hawker in the city and was always subject to harassment by Nairobi's infamous city council officers, which made their lives difficult.

Owing to his great passion for music that began during his high school days at the Eastleigh High School in Nairobi, the rapper charted his own path, venturing into the rap genre that saw him amass support from his supporters and fans. His hits are celebrated as street anthems as he is known as a lyrical genius due to his use of the Sheng language that resonates with the large demographic of his listeners.

Additionally, King Kaka is an established businessman, which has seen him become among the richest musicians in Kenya. He is also a part-time lecturer at Zetech University teaching entrepreneurship, mentorship, and music faculty.
