Leaders from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region are set to start a post-Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) conversation that will shape the region's future.

According to the outspoken Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, the region will hold high-level meetings that will shape the path to be followed by the region as the country enters the high electioneering period.

Through his facebook page, Mr Kuria noted that since the Building Bridges Initiative was dead, the region now needs to focus on it's future and guarantee its population of better results.

"The BBI is dead. Dead like a dodo. That was bound to happen given the kiburi (chest-thumping) and hubris with which it was pushed down our throats. Now since we have all agreed that is a reality, like the proverbial phoenix, it is time to rise from the ashes," stated the Legislator.

Mr Kuria, who recently launched his Chama Cha Kazi party and has been on a mission to popularize it, but stating that he will not contest for any political seat in the 2022 elections.

"Every stakeholder including regions are undergoing introspection to see how they move from there. How do we ensure we give counties 35% of National revenue? How do we ensure counties like Kiambu and Nakuru get their fair share of this 35%? How do we ensure the CDF kitty is shared in proportion to population of our constituencies? How do we ensure we have equal number of voters in each constituency ? How do we achieve Guaranteed Minimum Returns for our coffee, tea, milk, rice, potatoes, Miraa, Muguka etc?" wondered Kuria.

The Legislator now says that the Mt Kenya region will hold forums starting Monday, September 13, to decide on the fate of the region.

The forums, he says, will be co-chaired by himself, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and The Service Party leader, Mwangi Kiunjuri.

"Monday 13th September we start this journey of Post BBI introspection as Mt Kenya region. I am sure other regions are doing the same," he stated.

"Hon Martha Karua will co-chair the session with myself and Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri. We will be joined by our colleagues from Jubilee, UDA and other parties as well as other leaders like Hon Justin Muturi, William Kabogo and Hon Peter Kenneth."

Kuria noted that the meeting will be key in defining the next steps to be taken by the region and its leadership.

"A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step," he concluded.
