Rishi Sunak is the man poised to take over Liz Truss as Britain’s new Prime minister. Sunak has a decorated political career and an impressive educational background

He has garnered confidence and trust from his Conservative party to propel UK’s economy based on his background as an exchequer(chief finance minister) and former banker.

Sinai is listed as one of the richest politicians in the United Kingdom.



Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty together have two daughters. They are estimated to have higher net worth than the royal family.

According to the Washington Post, the couple is valued at $830 million while the royal family’s net worth is valued at $420 million.

Their matrimonial property includes stakes at Infosys-Murty’s father’s company. They also own shares in other companies and a start-up incubator Cataraman Ventures UK.


The Sunak family owns three family homes in Calif, Santa Monica, and Britain all valued at $ 6 million.


He has broken multicultural barriers by being the first Hindu prime minister of colour given his Indian origin.


Rishi Sunak was born into an immigrant family. His grandparents' roots were in Northwestern India. They would later emigrate to East Africa. His mother was born in Tanzania while his mother was born in Kenya.

After marriage, the families migrated to Southern England.

Sunak attended Winchester College. He also has a degree in Philosophy, politics, and economics from Lincoln College, Oxford.

He launched his career at the headquarters of the conservative Party where he was an intern.

Sunak pursued an MBA at Stanford University as a Fulbright scholar.


During his political career, he has been involved with Policy Exchange.

He has also served as the Conservative Party’s candidate for the House of Commons. From 2015 to 2017 he was a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs select committee.

His first ministerial post was as undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and local government.


Following the resignation of Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson dropped off the contest clearing the way for Sunak to be confirmed prime minister as the sole candidate.


During the run-up to campaigns, Sunak dismissed Liz Truss' ideologies of cutting down the tax burden.
