Lowkey High-Profile Weddings That Have Happened In 2022

Being an election year, a number of Kenyans have not shied away from holding their nuptials despite the heightened political temperatures, choosing to relish in the joy of getting hitched and forging forward together into the bliss of married life.

Among the many who have gotten married this year are various high profile Kenyans who do not enjoy the spotlight, but somehow seem to keep Kenyans talking with every move they make.

Here are four couples that have tied the knot this year.:

1.Ngina Kenyatta and Alex Mwai

The President's daughter is reported to have tied the knot with her Investment Director boyfriend Alex Mwai in a traditional wedding ceremony on Saturday, June 18.

Alex is the son of the Karen Club General Manager Mr Sam Mwai.

The private ceremony held in Nairobi was invite-only, with the head of state, his wife Margaret, other children, a few relatives, and friends gracing the event.

Former State House Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi spilled the beans about the secret wedding online tweeting a congratulatory message to the first daughter which went viral fast.

“Ngina Kenyatta, Congratulations on your Traditional Wedding. May God fill your journey with blessings solidify your union with renewed love and importantly grant you a great family.” Itumbi tweeted.

It is reported that the traditional wedding ceremony’s theme was red, and guests were dressed in different African prints and looked gorgeous, and the couple donned matching outfits.

"The bride looked stunning in her outfit and her bridal party was dressed in red. The event was fabulous and everyone was dressed up and ready to celebrate the newest married couple in town." a source revealed.

2. Nick Ruto and Evelyn Chemtai

Deputy President William Ruto’s first born son, Nick Ruto got married to Evelyn Chemutai in a traditional ceremony popularly known as koito in the Kalenjin community on January 15, 2022.

The lawyer was donned in a customized white kaunda suit decorated with a kitenge fabric on the left side of the shoulders and blended with a white hat, while his entourage donned blue suits and matching brown shoes.

The private ceremony held at Windy Ridge Karen saw the attendance of family members and friends including DP Ruto's close political leaders.

3. Juliani and Lilian Ng'ang'a.

This was one wedding that caught many by surprise, as the rapper and former Machakos First Lady who had been secretly courting came out of their shed after her public breakup with Machakos governor Alfred Mutua late last year and in January 2022, they tied the knot in a private wedding.

The ceremony was held on  on Wednesday, February 2 at an undisclosed location in Kiambu county, with a total of 50 invited guests.

Lilian was dressed in a baby pink flowing wedding gown and Juliani had a snow-white t-shirt with an ivory jacket, Dark-coloured pair of trousers and white sneakers.

Ng'ang'a also made public that she and Governor Mutua were not officially married before they split.

4. Guardian Angel and Esther Musila.

This was another wedding that left elicited a buzz online, as the gospel musician and his lover who were often criticized for their age difference proved their naysayers wrong after they got hitched in a private ceremony on Tuesday January 4, 2022.

Guardian Angel donned a cream cut-to-fit bespoke suit while Musila sparkled in a skinny backless wedding dress of the same colour.

The two walked down the aisle in an invite-only ceremony reportedly held at Thome Estate's Eden Bliss Gardens attended by friends and family.
