8 Confirmed Dead After Van Rams Into Truck Along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway

Eight people have been confirmed dead after a van rammed into a stalled truck at Ngata Bridge along the Nakuru - Nairobi highway on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024.

Area residents who witnessed the grisly accident say that they retrieved the bodies of six adults and two children from the wreckage.

According to the witnesses, the truck had been stalled along the road for three days.

The van is said to have been ferrying around 15 people to an event in Kisii before the tragedy struck.

"We have helped the police retrieve the bodies which have been taken to the mortuary while the injured were rushed to the hospital," one witness told the press.

"To all drivers plying this route, let's pay attention to the steep slope by being on high alert regarding the breaks."

Among the survivors is a woman who had broken limbs. As of 7 am, they had been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru County Commander Samuel Ndanyi said that the bodies had been moved to the Nakuru Annex Funeral Home.
