Another Poll Puts Raila Ahead of Ruto To 53Pc

A recent survey has placed Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga's popularity at 53 percent ahead of his closest rival Deputy President William Ruto.

This comes after three polls ranked Odinga as the most backed candidate ahead of Ruto.

According to the study by TIFA conducted between July 31 and August 1 has placed Ruto’s popularity rating at 45 percent.

Compared to previous rating by the research firm, the poll has seen Raila's popularity grow from 49 percent while DP Ruto's from 41 percent.

Out of 2,268 respondents, that were interviewed 2 percent of them said they would vote for Roots Party candidate George Wajackoyah while 0.2 would choose David Mwaure of the Agano Party.

Both Wajackoya and Mwaure retain their percentages with or without the undecided voters considerations.

Meanwhile, Ruto’s UDA party remained the most popular political party at 38 per cent followed by ODM at 32 per cent while President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party was ranked third with a 5 percent popularity rating.

Wiper Party ranked fourth at 4% followed by Roots Party, KANU, ANC, DAP-Kenya and Ford-Kenya  all at 1 percent.

"As was the case with political parties and the two coalitions, support for (the main) presidential candidates is concentrated in their home areas, but quite divided elsewhere" TIFA stated.

On Tuesday, another poll by Infotrak showed that Raila was favoured by the majority of Kenyans after  49 percent endorsed his his presidencyagainst Ruto’s 42 percent.

IPSOS also ranked the Azimio flag bearer ahead by six percent at 47 percent.
