The Directorate Of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of nine suspects linked to robbery with violence incidents reported from across different locations of the country on diverse dates between May 18, 2022, and May 27, 2022.

The investigative agency stated that detectives based at DCI Nairobi area led a sting operation within the Kamae and Lineka areas of Kasarani, where they cornered the suspects who had been in hiding.

The detectives acted on intelligence and also noted a pattern in the method and frequency in which the criminals conducted their activities owing to victim reports from across the country.

"The sleuths took up the case after a series of robberies committed in a similar modus operandi, were reported in different police stations staggered across 5 counties in a span of less than two weeks," the DCI stated.

This led to the unearthing of the crime ring operating from Kasarani by the criminals drawn from Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Embu, and Nakuru counties based on investigations by the detectives aided by the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau as well as the reports from the said counties.

The nine, Henry Mburugu, Dennis Mwai, Stephen Ngaruiya, Joe Njeru, and Kennedy Mawira, Jecinta Wambui, Jackline Nyaguthie Njeri, Purity Wanjiru, and Elizabeth Wanjiku were nabbed in a raid at their Kasarani hideout.

They were arraigned before Milimani Law Courts to answer to charges of robbery with violence.

This came just hours after the arrest of Badru Abdul Aziz Saleh whom the United States of America (USA) placed a Ksh116 million bounty for poaching and drug trafficking, who was intercepted by officers in Liboi, Garissa County after a tip-off from a member of the public and was swiftly ferried to Nairobi, where he is being held under police custody.
