Detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have successfully identified twelve women believed to be part of the drugging syndicate led by slain Samuel Mugo Muvota who was shot six times by an assailant who has since been identified as Karani Gachoki in Mirema in Nairobi.

The sleuths released the images of some of the women on its social media pages on Friday, May 20 who were under the stewardship of Muvota who was running the criminal enterprise targeting revelers in high-end entertainment spots and other illegal activities including fraud.

The DCI revealed that the women are just part of the cohort of almost 50 women who were recruited to drug revellers at the establishments, particularly targeting a certain age group of men who often fell prey to their tactics.

“The [babes] who are experts in stupefying revelers at popular drinking spots mainly target middle-aged to older men whom they suspect to have fat bank accounts,” the DCI stated.

They had a keen eye on who to pounce on, depending on the brands of the drinks one has ordered or how one is dressed, and then easily pick out their victim from the crowd.

The DCI pointed out that some of the suspects had been arrested before in connection with the criminal activities, but always managed to get their freedom back with the help of Muvota.

“Most of them have been arrested before but Muvota always came to their aid by approaching the complainants and refunding them back their money,” the agency stated.

“However, most of these cases often went unreported since the drugged men are mainly married and respectable people in society who wouldn’t wish to let out the skeletons in their cupboards,” the directorate pointed out.

Upon the news of the demise of their gang leader, the DCI stated that most of them have fled the city back to their rural areas to evade arrest, as they wait to see how things unfold.

However, the agency vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure that they trace their whereabouts and bring them to book.

They advised bar and club owners to be on the lookout for suspicious women out to spike drinks and report to authorities for action.
