Embakasi East Jubilee MP aspirant Maina Waruinge has skipped the ship and joined Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance barely six days to the General Election.
This has been made known Tuesday through DP Ruto's social media pages where the UDA presidential candidate has welcomed Waruinge.
"Embakasi East Jubilee MP aspirant Maina Waruinge quits the race and defects to UDA to support Francis Mureithi," read a post on his official Twitter page.
UDA's Francis Mureithi will now be battling out with the incumbent Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino who is seeking for another term.
In 2017 Mr Owino narrowly beat Mr Mureithi in a fierce contest whose results the latter filed an appeal against.
The court eventually upheld Owino’s victory but the animosity between the two has escalated as the August 9 General Election draws nearer.
In June this year, the rivalry between the two leaders played out during a chaotic Kenya Kwanza campaign rally at the famous Jacaranda grounds that was attended by Deputy President William Ruto.
