Families Stranded as Fire Razes 10 Houses in Homa Bay

Families in Arujo town, Homa Bay County were on Wednesday night forced to spend the rest of their evening out in the cold following a fire incident that reduced burnt down their rental houses.

In the incident that started at 8 pm, ten families lost their homes after the fire started in one of the houses before quickly spreading to the others, out of which six houses were charred to ashes. 

Margaret Anyango, the landlady of the ten-door building, noted that they only managed to recover two beds and a gas cylinder from two houses, adding that the rest of the items were reduced to ashes since the fire prevailed over their efforts put it out.

She also added that some of the tenants were still out on their daily activities at the time of the incident.

Confirming the incident, Area Chief Bob Lango noted that there were no casualties adding that the circumstances that led to the incident could not be established at the moment.

He also called upon well-wishers to help the affected families with temporary residences as they rebuild their lives
