Seven people have been reported dead while five others are sustaining  serious injuries after geting involved in a traffic accident involving a lorry and a 14-seater Matatu belonging to Ena Coach, which was heading towards Nairobi, and a lorry heading towards Bomet on the Narok-Bomet road on Friday 3rd June 2020.

The head-on collision left five people lifeless on the spot including the driver of the matatu while two succumbed to their injuries at the Narok County Referral Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Narok North sub-county police commander Frederick Shiundu said the lorry lost control before ramming matatu at around 1 pm.

The police boss further stated that the injured are receiving treatment at the Narok County Referral Hospital while the deceased were moved to the Narok Hospital’s morgue.

This comes barely two weeks after another grisly accident happened along the Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway, Where Eight mourners lost their lives after a van they were travelling in rammed head-on into a lorry near Mafuta Taa centre.

Drivers are advised to be careful on the roads as cases of grisly accidents have been on the rise recently.

In April this year, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that more than 1,300 people had by April this year lost their lives in road accidents.

According to NTSA, some of the  risky behaviours that end up costing innocent lives  are speeding, failure to maintain discipline on lanes, driving under the influence of alcohol, using mobile phones while driving, failure to use available pedestrian walkaways and a disregard for helmets for motorcyclists.
