Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has extended an olive branch to the county's ward representatives, inviting them to a meeting to bring to an end the ongoing stalement that has been making headlines for the past couple of weeks.

The embattled governor also invited Meru County Members of Parliament and Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi for the meeting, in a bid to have them witness as they lay all their differences on the table to find a solution to back and forth taking center stage in the county.

“As you are aware Meru County Government has been experiencing some misunderstanding for a while between the Executive and the Honorable County Assembly,” the Governor said.

She acknowledged that among the key factors that fueled the feud was the management of the ward fund, that she included in her governor's address which was blatantly ignored after the MCAs staged a walk-out.

“I am ready to discuss it with the Honourable Members of the County Assembly on its management and come up with a workable solution,” she said.

Mwangaza revealed that the decision to seek a truce was the culmination of efforts by the Council of Governors (CoG) through its chair Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to mediate the ongoing feud by bringing together the county boss and the leadership of the Meru County Assembly led by its speaker Ayub Bundi Solomon.

The consultative meeting is slated for Thursday, November 3 at the Governor's residence in the county.

This comes after a petition was filed seeking her impeachment, after allegations of gross misconduct , abuse of office and nepotism were leveled against her by one Thuranira Salesio Mutuma who is a human rights defender.

Thuranira cited eleven grounds that warrant the impeachment of Governor Mwangaza, including the unprocedural appointment of her kin to public office, deviating from the stipulated procedure when she appointed the chair of the Meru County revenue board and favouritism.
