Netizens were treated to a thread of memes made by a graphic designer who decided to replicate Kenyan brands but added catchphrases that actually represented based on their service delivery to Kenyans, which many found hilarious as they depicted the accurate representation of what they experienced at the hands of these brands.

The thread of new slogans dubbed 'If Kenyan Brands Told The Truth With Their Branding' created by Cchora Studio was shared numerous times online, as they resonated with how Kenyans feel about how different service providers conduct their business.

The new taglines represented major company brands including telco operators, food establishments, and the banking sector, and are the first part of a series by the curator, with a disclaimer that they were only for entertainment purposes.

The Kenyan Power and  Lighting Company(KPLC) new slogan seemed to elicit the most reactions, with a one-liner "Sisi Ndio Tuko" whose meaning implied that it is the only player in the sector and Kenyan should hence be content with what they have.

This hit the nail on the head as the country is at the mercy of the power supplier when it comes to connectivity. Many have decried the company's laxity when they are disconnected from power, and often times Kenyans complain of its monopoly as there is nothing they can do about it but wait till the same company reconnects them to the power grid.

Another major brand that had an accurate depiction was Safaricom,  whose new tag line was "Na si tafadhali" which implies Kenyans have no option but to fall in line if they required any type of service delivery from the company.

Safaricom being the biggest telco in the country offers a vast array of services owing to its high penetration of network connectivity but Kenyans have often complained of being subject to high rates just to have access to these services such as mobile money transfer, data bundle and wifi packages for homes and offices among others. The telco has never budged on its payments policies, yet every year it records an increase in the number of subscribers, which hence gives meaning to the slogan, that if you want the company's services, then you will just have to fall in line and pay.

Other brands include Airtel, Equity, and Artcaffe whose 'new' slogans offered comic relief to Kenyans, as they accurately told the tale of what Kenyans really thought of them.

"Kenya power is right!" Nancy Thuo tweeted.

"Airtel is in a one-sided relationship," another Tweeter user stated, speaking for the many who only use the network provider for its subsidized data charges compared to other telcom operators.
