Kenyans have come out to demand justice for two traders who were shot dead by gunmen at Adams Arcade Market in Nairobi.

The angry citizens are now imploring law enforcement agencies to spring into action to bring to book the two gun-totting robbers, after a snippet of the CCTV footage of the incident made rounds on social media.

In the video, one trader identified as Sophia Gathoni was just about to close shop for the day, when one of the robbers under the guise of a customer made his way to her stall soliciting cigarettes.

As soon as he entered the shop, he cocked his pistol and aimed at her, and she retreated back into the stall to hide. Her efforts were however futile as he opened fire at her.

The second robber forced his way into the shop but an injured Gathoni was determined to push him out of the shop, but she was stopped in her tracks after the thug shot her multiple times leaving her in a pool of blood on the floor of the shop.

The thugs scattered into the thick of the night, but she managed to raise alarm which prompted other traders nearby to come to her rescue.

Another trader identified as Paul Githinji who according to eye witnesses seemed to be on the way leading to Gathoni's shop in response to her distress call met with the thugs who shot at him indiscriminately.

They were both rushed to the Nairobi Women's Hospital in a bid to save their lives but they both succumbed to their injuries.

Kenyans expressed their disappointment with security agencies online following the recent spike in criminal activities in the city, with many demanding that swift action be taken against the criminals.

"It is saddening to lose two people at their places of work in the hands of armed gangsters. We have enough Police Stations, Police Officers and Intelligence Personnel to ensure that traders conducting their legitimate businesses, shoppers and residents are safe at all times," Musician DNG noted.

"We need action. This is the Capital City! We don't need another Press Conference. We want these senseless thugs apprehended, prosecuted and jailed!" he added.

"We are not safe, Rongai, Adams Arcade" another user remarked.

No arrest has been made yet but Kilimani police have since collected the bullets removed from the bodies for ballistic examination as they narrow down their search into the whereabouts of the suspects.
