A middle-aged man was on Thursday, May 9, 2024, sentenced to 15 years in prison for defiling his daughter.

The court heard that the accused committed the offence on his daughter repeatedly for three years, between 2020 and December 2023.

Kisumu Principal Magistrate Hon. Fatuma Rashid while delivering her judgement said the prosecution through Elvin Mogoa proved the case against the accused person beyond reasonable doubt.

She added that the testimonies from all 5 prosecution witnesses corroborated and indeed confirmed that the accused person committed the heinous act on his daughter.

In another ruling, a Kibera Law Court convicted and sentenced Wycliffe Mabaya Mugonyi to life imprisonment for the offence of defilement.

The accused person is reported to have defiled a 6-year-old minor in Kibera, Makina area, causing her extensive injuries and trauma.

During the sentencing hearing, the prosecution through Ms. Ann Murage, requested that the court uphold the minimum sentence prescribed under Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offence Act.
