Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party national chairman John Mbadi has now asked that Deputy President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza team offer an apology to Kenyans for making claims that one million voters had been omitted from the voter registers which caused a stir and tension all around questioning the integrity of the IEBC.

The Azimio One Kenya-allied leader who spoke during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, June 21, stated that it was not in the DP's place to make such inflammatory claims, especially claiming that only voters from his strongholds had been removed, as they could have been erroneously interpreted as discrimination  and incite the general public.

“When you make serious allegations, and this is the deputy president of the country, that one million voters have been removed from the voters’ roll, and those are your supporters, you should accompany it with credible evidence,” Mbadi said on Citizen TV’s News Night show on Tuesday.

“You cannot say that you are getting sporadic information from your supporters and then you make a conclusion that the number must be one million and that they are all your supporters."

Mbadi claimed that DP in his capacity should have refrained from making those claims as it could have caused led to apprehension in the country.

"I thought that was irresponsible, reckless…and Governor Nanok should apologize to Kenyans that they didn’t have facts about one million voters…it was alarmist, statement of panic and not accurate that one million voters were removed from the roll and those were their supporters," Mbadi noted.

“If you are new in the country and the deputy president says that…it causes you concern, what a country is this?”

“Now we are hearing that this was just hearsay from a few individuals that they were transferred against their wish and they did not confirm that the same was being done in some parts of their country and not confined to their area.”he pointed out.

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok who was another panelist in the interview rubbished Mbadi's statements, stating that IEBC had in fact proved the Kenya Kwanza team right after a report on the voter register audit which revealed that there was presence of illegal transfers, vindicating DP Ruto as he had not made false claims.

The DP's presidential campaign secretariat boss also claimed that  three commissioners had reportedly been arrested after the report was released.

“When you transfer voters from Kiambu to Wajir …what is the difference between that illegal transfer and removal? It means if that voter goes to the polling station they had chosen and registered at, they are unable to find their name and vote. If you do that for a million people, it is huge and raises a concern,” Nanok said.

“You saw yesterday, IEBC indicating that there was an attempted illegal transfer, removal from polling station they had registered into other polling stations they had not registered. In fact, talk of investigations and removal of three IEBC officers involved in the scandal…we have been vindicated and there is nothing to apologize for.” he declared.
