Meet Farouk Kibet :The Man Calling The Shots In Ruto's Government

Little-known Farouk Kibet seems to have won the heart of the president and wields influence at the State House.
He has risen from an aide to being the most trusted ally of  Kenya’s fifth president William Ruto.

Farouk Kibet is a revered name even among elected officials despite his not holding any political office.
He has been described as wise and the only key to accessing President Ruto.

Farouk Kibet’s educational background is questionable. That notwithstanding he has been able to stand out as a talented organizer, wise man, and great campaigner.

He did his basic education at Chepkemel primary school. Details of his further education remain scanty.
Farouk Kibet was born and raised in the Turbo constituency along the border of Uasin Gishu and Kakamega counties.

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro is also on record confessing that Kibet is a powerful man in Ruto’s inner circle. He intimated that no one including the deputy president can get direct access to the president without the approval of Farouk Kibet.

Political analysts have argued that the fact that Farouk has been the president's aide could have given him leverage above all other Allies of President Ruto. His role has been likened to that of Matere Kiereri in Kibaki’s government.

Besides being State House Comptroller he was Mwai Kibaki’s personal friend. Another man that wielded such power was Nicholas Biwott in Moi’s regime.

Kibet Farouk has received a commendation for being instrumental in the Kenya Kwanza win in the August polls.
Farouk first worked with William Ruto in 1997 while he was launching his political career in Eldoret North politics.
He was nominated to become the councilor of Warner from 1997 to 2003.

“I could not have a personal aide, if this old man was not there, I am very proud of Farouk Kibet,” Ruto stated previously.

Farouk was named among the suspects in the National Youth (791 million )Scandal.
He was also implicated in the 2007 post-election violence prosecutions by Fatou Bensouda.

Farouk Kibet is the man to watch in Ruto’s government.
