In a bizarre display of events, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) hailed the efforts of one traditional medicine man from  Botsotso, Kakamega county who used his power for the good of society, where he helped in the arrest of three livestock thieves who had terrorized the village.

In a statement released by the sleuths, the agency commended the witch doctor for using his magic in bringing the suspects to book in an event that brought the village to a standstill over the peculiar circumstances that the events played out.

The owner of the livestock, Tolibert Imbiakah, 42, realized that some of his animals comprising a goat and a calf were missing from their pen on the morning of Wednesday, May 25, and resorted to consulting the services of the benevolent witch doctor in a bid to trace his stolen animals.

"The witch doctor visited the man’s compound and conducted some rituals at the enclosure while mumbling some incantations, then left telling the owner not to worry as the thugs would come looking for him after two days," the statement by the DCI stated.

True to his words, the three men, Hillary Momanyi, 22, John Bukhazio 28, and Winston Mutiele, 20, emerged on Friday, May 27, with their hands mobbed by swarms of bees as they carried the animals aloft bleating and mooing rhythmically, like the animals.

The owner of the animals emerged and positively identified his stock as the witch doctor who took possession of his bees before handing over the apologetic thugs to law enforcement.

The detectives booked the suspects awaiting arraignment.

The incident elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans, with one faction reeling in the hilarity of the situation and another condemning the DCI for glorifying the use of witchcraft to nab criminals, wondering why the same could not be implemented on capital offenders and those dogged by scandals such as the KEMSA fraud saga.

"Would you kindly recommend the witch doctor to the govt in that the stolen public funds can be returned by the thieves just like the livestock were returned? Secondly, How sure are you that you aren't marketing a Crime syndicate that you are expected to bring to book?" Mkenya Daima stated.

"He should catch KEMSA thieves," another user commented.
