Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Kilifi counterpart, Amason Kingi have reportedly ditched the Azimio One Kenya coalition to join Kenya Kwanza.

Speaking to a local station, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader confirmed that they will be joining Kenya Kwanza and will be addressing a press conference today, Monday 9.

He intimated that his decision was made final after Azimio failed to publicize the coalition agreement signed between constituent parties, even after he threatened to file a case in court.

Mutua further revealed that five other parties are planning to ditch Azimio due to what he termed as dishonesty and zoning in the coalition.

"We are convinced that the best team to transform Kenya is Kenya Kwanza and the leader to transform Kenya is William Ruto. I am aware that 5 other parties are planning to leave Azimio due to their dishonesty and zoning,

"You can be well assured, that the William Ruto you knew will not be the same now that he is with Mutua. Your fears are now allayed... I will make sure he doesn't do any wrong" Mutua stated.

Prior to the new development, the duo decried exclusion from the Azimio coalition, complaining about what Mutua described as  ‘mistrust’  in the coalition.

The two were welcomed by Ford Kenya Party leader, Moses Wetangula who stated that the duo's entry brings additional energy to the coalition ahead of the August polls.

“Congratulations Maendeleo Chap Chap and PAA political parties for joining the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Coalition. Your entry brings in additional energy and guarantees, even more, KKA’s assured victory in the August 9th General elections. Hongera,” Wtangula wrote on Twitter.
