Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei on Monday, October 10 expressed his discontentment over the recent shortlisted candidates for the principal secretaries position by the Public Service Commission, with a particular interest in those from the Azimio One Kenya political faction which has assumed the opposition role after Kenya Kwanza assumed power.

The senator took to his social media account calling out the Azimio allies whose names made it to the list, asking them to remain in the role best suited for them in the opposition for their failure to support President William Ruto.

He instead insisted that out of the 585 candidates shortlisted, only those nominated by the President should be appointed for the PS roles as a reward for their loyalty to him during the electioneering period.

"On the shortlisted PSs have seen some Azimio-OKA apologists who didn't believe in H.E Ruto Presidency & insulted him, let them remain in opposition not to sabotage our God given govt & NO  recycling . Loyalty to H.E Ruto MUST be absolute to serve government & Kenyans " he stated.

This however rubbed a section of Kenyans the wrong way, as they reminded the senator that the Principal Secretary position was only involved with the coordination and implementation of projects in state departments, and hence should not be politicized  but be accorded to those who met the requirements to conduct the mandate regardless of their political affiliation.

"On this l beg to differ with you a Principal Secretary is employed by the Public Service and the role is very distinct from political positions and it must remain that way. The need for political loyalty applies to political offices and that of PS  is not one of them," one Job Too remarked.

"That's so low Hon. Senator, I thought we are talking of technocrats and Civil Service here?! My goodness, is this the Kenya you want to build for your grandkids?" radio personality Fred Ombachi Machoka stated.

"We are all Kenyans we can't afford to live in revenge times, you clearly stated it is time for the country to move forward. Please be a good example to this country the youths are watching and we want good governance not a one sided government.Words can be toxic!!" another Ruth Mueni opined.

Cherargei argued that for a democracy to be functional, then there should be a distinction between the government and the opposition.
