The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has relaunched its Self Service Mobile application in a bid to expand the platform to accommodate the verification of boda-boda certificates and driving school instructor licences in a bid to improve service efficiency.

The application is part of the reforms aimed at improving service efficiency, reliability, and convenience by the authority. The app will hence complement the revamped Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) that is expected to harmonize and synchronize its various service platforms to enable the Authority to offer efficient services to clients.

In the announcement made on Friday, May 20,  the Authority urged members of the public to access the services by reinstalling the application on their phones through the Google Appstore where they will enjoy the newly added features.

NTSA has assured that the app is free and user-friendly, and is designed to provide real-time information to clients.

The details that are verifiable on the new system include matatu sacco or company details, motor vehicle inspection status, road service licence to ascertain the eligibility of a vehicle to operate as a PSV, PSV badge details for the individual driver, and night travel licenses.

The authority has cautioned the public against concealing vehicles whose details do not populate upon verification in the application. They have been advised to incorporate the use of the QR code scanner on the E-sticker provided by the authority to identify forged documentation.

Additionally, the app will allow for the verification of individual licences as well as interim driver licenses that are required from new drivers who have just completed their testing process awaiting their smart driver's licence. All one is required to do is key in the individual's national identification number.

With the relaunch, the authority has announced that verification of boda boda certificates will be made available on the app, with a particular emphasis on the riders to ensure that their registration is complete. Driving school instructor licenses are also up for verifiable through their ID numbers.

NTSA advised those with incomplete information in their registration, either indriving school instructors to visit their online portal for further guidance, verification, and update.

Other features on the application include complaint management, TIMS enquiries, and access to information.

"The NTSA app provides a simple and secure license verification and is purposed to bring a personalized service experience to clients," the statement read.
