A Kiambu pastor charged with defrauding a Bishop Ksh 730,000 meant for anointing oil two years ago has been released on a cash bail of Ksh 300,000 or Ksh 500,000 bond.

Appearing before the Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo, the suspect identified as Martin Muraya denied obtaining the cash from Samwel Mburu Kerige,

Prior to the charges, the court heard that Muraya had obtained the money from Kerige through pretense after he masqueraded as a supply for Essential oil and Seth Molecules

Through his lawyer, Muraya defended that he was a pastor in the same church as the complainant who was actually his bishop, further demanding his release.

"I urge this court to free the accused on a reasonable bond or cash bail is given the accused and the complainant were ministering in the same church. The accused is a pastor while the complainant is the bishop," he stated.

The magistrate then questioned the accused on why he was dragged to court by the complainant yet the Bible advised that resolution of disputes should be solved amicably amongst brethren, upon which she questioned about the whereabouts of the bishop, where he was ministering and the name of his church.

In his response, the accused  who responded through his lawyer explained that he relocated his ministry to Thika from the city adding that he shares open-air forums with the complainant

He was later freed on a cash bail as the case is set to be mentioned on May 18.
