Police Nab Seven Suspects Behind Viral Gang Rape Video

Seven suspects have been arrested by police in Bomet in connection with a gang rape video that has been circulating online.

Confirming the arrest, Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa stated that the seven are being held at the Chebunyo Police Station. They were arrested in Olbutyo, Chepalungu Sub-County.

Among those arrested are 38-year old Anderson Mutai and 21-year old Weldon Sigei.

Mr Ndiwa told the media that the heinous act was committed and recorded in 2023 but the video was shared online on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The woman in the video is yet to be identified.

"The matter was not reported to us. We are doing all we can to process the whole thing. The law doesn't allow such content to be distributed or displayed anywhere,” the police commander stated.

According to the Area Chief Edwin Barusei, Anderson Mutai was the one with the circulated clip.
