The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga is today expected to be Chebukati’s led commission special guest as the time gap to the August 9th polls narrows. The former prime minister will be making a fifth stab at the presidency after similar attempts in four of the country’s past elections bore no fruits.

Odinga will be accompanied by his presidential running mate nominee Martha Karua to a prayer service to seek favours from above at the All Saints Cathedral before heading to the Bomas Of Kenya where their supporters will be eagerly waiting for IEBC to officially give them a green light to contest as a presidential aspirant for the August 9th polls.

Odinga will later attend a series of political campaigns here in Nairobi before leading his alliance to Nakuru County for roadside rallies starting at 2 pm to woo voters to support him to clinch the country’s most respected sit in the August general elections.

As it stands at the moment, the race to statehouse has been narrowed down to a two-horse race where Odinga will be going head-on with his longtime political foe and the sitting deputy president Dr William Samoei Ruto. Ruto was on Saturday 5th June 5, 2022, cleared by the electoral body to seek his presidential bid on a United Democratic Party UDA ticket.

After being cleared by IEBC, Dp Ruto promised the commission that his Kenya Kwanza will at every time abide by the electoral code of conduct expressing his confidence in IEBC's credibility in running the forthcoming elections. This comes even after the Ruto led faction had earlier rise complaints that the commission elections register had been tempered with.

Raila on his side will be confident to face the man he had pushed for his removal from office after he failed to clinch the top sit in the 2013 and 2017 general elections. Raila, in 2017 termed IEBC as incompetent and wanted the all commission disbanded citing impartiality.

If all goes well for Odinga, he will now join the DP William Ruto Of UDA as the 5th candidate to be cleared by the commission after Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah, Mr Walter Mong’are of Umoja Summit Party and Mr David Mwaura Waihiga of Agano party.
