Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has asked UDA Presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua to stick to issues that directly affect Kenyans, instead of pledging drastic reforms that do not solve the challenges of the common mwananchi.

He was referring to the Gachagua's pledge to revoke the new blue police uniform if the Kenya Kwanza Alliance wins the forthcoming elections, asking him to remain quiet if he did not intend to address any socio-economic issues that require intervention.

"Mr Rigathi, this is a silly sideshow. No one asked you to change the police uniform. Focus on the agendas of 50 million Kenyans - jobs, human rights, democracy, rule of law, electoral and social justice. If not, shut up," Miguna stated through his Twitter account .

The lawyer who has passionately expressed his support for Deputy President William Ruto was irked by the statement, which has elicited mixed reactions online over the abrasive nature of Rigathi's political antics versus the need to amass support from the electorate in the run-up to the August 9 polls.

Rigathi was addressing a Kenya Kwanza county economic forum in Nyandarua county on Saturday, June 11 where he made the remarks, stating that the coalition would making reforms in the law enforcement sector to address challenges facing the police service.

He took jibes at the current administration, accusing the current Interior CS Fred Matuangi' and his PS Karanja Kibicho of sidelining the plight of the men in blue that he said began after late president Mwai Kibaki left office in 2013.

Among the tribulations that he said the police faced was the subjection to uniform change, and in jest likened the attire to those donned by women in religious groups, and said it would be their priority to reinstate the old uniforms.

"You have suffered so much in the hands of Matiang'i and Kibicho. Even the new blue uniform that you don't want will be revoked and we return to the old one. The blue one will be left for PCEA church. It is the uniform of women's guild," the MP stated.

He also alleged that he was privy to information that Matiang'i and Kibicho were intimidating the police and forcing them to support the Azimio candidate Raila Odinga, and he urged law enforcers to remain unmoved by any pressure by the State even if they were fired, and that their jobs would be secure when the Kenya Kwanza Government would assume office.

"We want to tell chiefs that we have heard they are being intimidated to help Raila win, failure to which they risk losing their jobs. Don't worry, we only have 57 days remaining and we will give you back your jobs. We want to guarantee all officers that their jobs are safe."

The forum was led by DP Ruto in his bid to garner support from the vote-rich Mt Kenya regions where he delved into economic reforms through his Bottom-Up economic approach.
