Stop Insulting Uhuru: Raila Tells Ruto In Thika

Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has hit out at Deputy President William Ruto over his cham offensive against President Uhuru Kenyatta as  Tuesday general election hit the fever pitch.

He condemned remarks made by Deputy President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade for “insulting” President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to keep off Uhuru in his campaigns noting that the outgoing Head of State will not be vying for any elective position.

"Stop insulting Uhuru. He is not on the ballot. Come  and face us. Uhuru is going home," said Raila.

Raila was speaking in Thika where he led Azimio campaigns.

On Sunday President Kenyatta in a quick response to Ruto's scathing attacks condemned the acts by his political opponents saying he cannot go after them when he is preparing to exit the office.

While commissioning the 27.8 km Nairobi Eastern Bypass Road, the president urged Kenyans to maintain peace before, during and after next week’s polls.

“Everyone in this country [including myself] is free to support the candidate of their choice. In the end, it is the voters’ choice. There is no need to insult others,” President Uhuru responded.

He  also reiterated that every Kenyan including himself has the freedom of supporting the candidate of their choice.

“If I respond to the lies you are telling Kenyans, don’t spin it around and lie that I want to kill you. You have been insulting me for three years and I have kept quiet. I had the power. Why would I come after you when I am on my way out?” Uhuru posed.
