The third suspect in the murder of Rwanda-based businessman George Mwangi Kamau has been hunted down and arrested by detectives.
The slain businessman was reported missing by his estranged wife Gladys Njeri Mwangi alias Chania but was soon discovered dead. His body was wrapped in a nylon bag covered under heaps of cartons.
John Muikiriria Mwangi was arrested in the Karinga location in Gatundu South sub-county.
The array of John Muikiriria brings the total number of suspects to three.
Gladys Chania, an aspiring politician is the main suspect in the gruesome murder of her husband George Kamau.
The detectives detected foul play and pre-planned coincidence that the second accused Morris Kamau was hired on October 8, 2022, by Gladys Chania a day before the murder and disappearance of George Mwangi.
On the same day, John Muikiriria Mwangi allegedly failed to return home after Gladys sent him to deposit some money on MPESA. John had previously worked in that home for four years as a casual labourer.
So far Morris Kamau and Gladys Chania have been charged at Kiambu law courts.
Thorough investigations by the Crime Research and Intelligence bureau homicide detectives show that George Mwangi was murdered in his Mang’u house before his body was disposed of at Kieni forest, twenty kilometers away.
Pieces of evidence that contributed to this conclusion include blood-soaked bed sheets, stained curtains and clothing, and blood-stained metal rods.
The above exhibits were discovered in the house by detectives based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory in a locked room adjacent to the master bedroom.
John Muikiriria will be arraigned at Kiambu law courts today.
A post-Mortem conducted by government pathologist Johansson Oduor revealed that the deceased has died from head injuries caused by a blunt object. The report showed that his left-hand fingers had sustained injuries during the gruesome murder.
