Safina Party’s presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi suffered a major blow after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declined to clear him to contest for the presidency after he failed to present a physical copy of his degree certificate.

According to the commission's chairman Wafula Chebukati,  the flamboyant aspirant also failed to garner the requisite number of signatures.

Mr Wanjigi, on his part, protested the move terming it a plan to lock him out of the elections by his political enemies.

Wanjigi said that the commission is maximizing on a plan to eliminate people a decision he alleged is being calculated by the authorities above. He Complains that IEBC is applying different rules to different people saying that the process has dangerous aftermath during the elections.
