The Real Story of How Christiano Ronaldo Was Bullied At School

Did you know Cristiano Ronaldo almost left Sporting Lisbon and quit football altogether during his childhood?

The now superstar was the target of cruel mockery and bullying.

Fortunately for us, his mental fortitude helped him overcome those difficult times.

This is the story of how and why CR7 was bullied at school.

The kid from Areida Cristiano Ronaldo had a humble upbringing in his native Medina little CR before adding the seven to his nickname started playing for local team and Dorina before joining Nasia now one of the two biggest clubs in Medina

Ronaldo as you may have guessed, dazzled at National and a huge opportunity soon presented itself.

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon invited him for a three day trial. This was everything Cristiano had ever dreamed of.

The chance to demonstrate his footballing skills at one of the biggest clubs in the country.

11 year old Ronaldo traveled to Lisbon, enthralled the Scouts and joined Sporting Lisbon's Academy. As a result, he had to leave Madida and moved to the capital far away from his family.

It may have been a tough move. But football had always been his priority for Chris. This was the perfect opportunity.

Everything was supposed to go smoothly for Ronaldo and Elizabeth, but he was about to learn just how cruel people can be a life exam.

Madida is a small island located 967 kilometers from Lisbon.

Therefore people born in Medina have a different accent and a different pronunciation of some words.

Christiano, of course, spoke as a media item and kids mocked him because of that his teammates and classmates teased him incessantly, whether on the pitch or in the classroom.

Ronaldo's dream had turned into a nightmare. As such, he decided to abandon his dream and moveb back to Madida.

"It was very strange that no one understood me. Sometimes I had a feeling that I was speaking another language. When I finished talking, everyone started teasing me and laughing. I felt like a completejoke. I cried because I was ashamed. I called my mom and told her I wanted to go back home," Christiano told an international news agency.

Cristiano was worried about being constantly teased and decided to give up on his dream. Bullies not only made fun of his accent, but also his physique. He might be built like an Adonis.

Well, who works out relentlessly to stay in peak condition but back in 1996 he was just a frail, feeble young boy and that made him the target of bullies. In addition to being the victim of taunts, his smalls statureenabled defenders to bully him on the field.

Opponents would go in firm footed and make rash fouls on him. These were testing times for the young star, his Lisbon fairy tale had taken a dark turn and he was forced to seek help from his teachers, but the reaction he received was far from supportive, not football material.

Young Cristiano tried to seek help by informing his teacher of what was happening to him, but instead of providing encouragement and guidance, he compounded CR7's misery with one incredibly ill-judged comment, "You will never earn money with football. Oh boy, you couldn't be more wrong about that.

Ronaldo has since become the first billionaire footballer thanks to his lucrative club contracts and sponsorship deals. But that teacher did indeed say those words to Christiano.

The worst part is that his teachers also bullied him about his Medina in origins.

There's even a rumor of Cristiano throwing a chair at his teacher after he made fun of his accent and his family's financial status.

Ronaldo was a different person back then, that's for sure, but he has always been blessed with a strong mindset and admirable mentality that has seen him thrive after such tormenting times.

His abilities as a footballer are testament to that dedication and commitment, his work ethic, his relentless pursuit of improvement, and above all his confidence were tested during his youth.

No one, not even him, could have predicted the success he has since achieved, but make no mistake, Christiano poured blood sweat and tears, especially duringbhis early days in Lisbon, into his quest to make a name for himself in football.

Do not let small obstacles get in the way of being victorious.Remember you are stronger than the challenges you face Cristiano had to overcome some of the worst forms of bullying, separated from his loving family.

Ronaldo suffered deeply during his childhood, but sheer perseverance helped him become one of the greatest footballers ever.

Is his story one of the most inspiring of all time? Do you think he grew stronger?
