Six people have died after a vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a Subaru at the Sinalage area, along the Narok-Mulot Highway.

The driver of the Sienta and his five passengers died on the spot while the driver of the Subaru sustained injuries.

A police report on Monday morning, April 22, 2024, indicated that the accident occurred when the driver of the Subaru - which was headed towards Narok - attempted to overtake another vehicle.

"Upon reaching the scene of the accident, the vehicles collided head-on when Subaru Forester tried to overtake another motor vehicle," the report read in part.

Remains of the deceased were taken to the Narok District Hospital. The driver of the Subaru is said to have complained of chest pains and taken in for treatment.

Wreckages of the two vehicles were towed to the Narok Police Station.

The accident comes at a time the government has prioritised safety measures to combat road carnage. As of April 2024, over 1300 people have died in road accidents according to the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA).
