Daylight Bank Robbery at Equity Nairobi West Branch


There was an attempted daylight robbery at the Equity Bank-Nairobi West Branch near Summerdale Hotel.

 

Police have started the investigations on the matter that saw an armed man fire shots while at Equity Bank on Tuesday morning 

 

The man was  forcing his way into the bank when he opened fire on being denied entry .

Bank guards alongside some civilians have been injured in the aborted robbery.

 

The bank issued a statement confirming the incident had taken place and that the bank has been temporarily closed.

Being a scene of the crime, it was closed to allow for investigations.

 

CCTV footage shows that the armed thug attacked a female guard standing at the entrance.

He then proceeded into the banking hall where he attacked a police officer in uniform. The police officer has been identified as Patrick Omusebe.

 

Details remain scanty but sources have cited that the situation is under control as police have been deployed to the scene of the crime.

According to police, the man was armed with a kitchen knife.

 

The armed robber has reportedly been shot dead by police escorting a G4S officer to the bank.

This was after the man tried to rob the cash brought in by the G4S personnel.

No money was stolen during the process.
