Ex-IEBC Boss Issack Hassan Among 41 Shortlisted for Court of Appeal Judges Position

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Issack Hassan is among the final 41 candidates shortlisted for the Court of Appeal judge position.

Other successful applicants include Justices Grace Nzioka, Anthony Mrima, Chacha Mwita, James Wakiaga, and Dalmas Omondi.

Immediate former IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati was among the initial 82 applicants but his name is missing from the final 41.

"The JSC having reviewed the application for completeness and conformity with the requirements as set out in the advertisement, shortlisted 41 candidates," the notice signed by Chief Justice Martha Koome read in part.

She proceeded to invite comments on the conduct of candidates by members of the public by May 14, 2024.

The 41 candidates are battling for 11 vacant judges positions at the Court of Appeal. Interviews are scheduled to begin at 9am June 3 and end in the afternoon of June 20.

"Take note that the Commission may interview any member of the public who has submitted information on any of the shortlisted candidates and such information shall be kept confidential," the notice read in part.

Interviews will be conducted at Central Bank of Kenya's Pension Towers along Harambee Avenue.
