The ideal scenario for almost all Kenyans is to grow up and succeed in their endeavors at home, however, a myriad of factors including unemployment, further education among others have pushed a number of our brothers and sisters to realise their dreams outside our borders.

From world leaders to athletic phenoms, Kenya boasts representation in some of the most enviable roles globally. This continues to be a testament to how industrious we are as a people whenever we dare to dream.

Milton Isalano is yet another Kenyan hoisting the country's flag high. For over 18 years, he has served as a chef for arguably the greatest team in English Premier League (EPL) history, Manchester United.

Enjoying the world's largest fanbase according to multiple media reports, Manchester United is an envy for many, and getting to interact let alone cook for some of the most iconic names to have played for the club is a mean feat in itself.

In a previous interview, the veteran chef revealed that he joined the English club in 2005 right in the middle of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign.

“I am a Kenyan former Pioneer Senior Chef at the Windsor Golf and country club, in Nairobi from 1991 to 2002 before I moved to the United Kingdom as a chef. I have been working at Manchester United as a Senior chef since 2005 to date,” he told a local daily.

Apart from his role at United, Isalano also divulged that he has worked in different other places in the greater Manchester area.

“In 2010-2014, I was the Head Chef of V.I.P Escape Lounges Manchester Airport in terminals one, two, and three. Any time the first Manchester United team and Manchester City football teams flew out of the country, I served them in the lounges before they boarded the plane,” he stated.

Between 2015 and 2018, he also worked at 5 star-rated Gotham Hotel, where he got to interact and serve the likes of X-Factor and Got Talent talent judge, Simon Cowell.

The veteran chef revealed that Manchester United has 26 kitchens and on a single match day, 120 chefs are required to ensure smooth operations.

Before immigrating to the UK, Isalano attended Utalii College and Kenya Polytechnic where he studied short chef courses.

He also holds a chef's certificate from the Lancaster and Morecambe Colleges and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospitality Management from Salford University.

Isalano is a proud Kenyan and in 2023, was spotted with Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK Manoah Esipisu during the Kenya and Friends event held at the London Pitshanger Park. The event, which was organised by Lydia Olet, brought together Kenyans in the diaspora for networking opportunities.

“Another Kenyan Chef doing great. Bumped into Milton Isoyi, Man United chef at the #KenyainthePark event in North London. Great event serving great connections amongst Kenyan Diaspora,” Esipisu posted on social media platform, X.
