Deputy President William Ruto has hit back at Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa over recent slapping remarks made by the CS.

Speaking during an Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya campaign in Kakamega on Saturday, July 9, Wamalwa claimed that in 2018, after a meeting between leaders from the Luhya region and President Kenyatta, that DP Ruto wanted to slap him and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

Ruto, however, in quick reply to Wamalwa said despite having assisted him to secure the Ministry job in the  government, the CS has opted to criticize him and making insubstantial claims instead of being thankful.

" Stop saying I wanted to slap you. In our culture we do not slap women, tell him that. We respect women, tell him to stop lying. Tell that person to stop bad mouthing if it were not for me he would still be jobless and loitering in the streets,” Ruto said.

Wamalwa's comments come on the backdrop of a leaked audio that went public, which the DP admitted that he was close to slapping President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto told off Wamalwa while addressing a rally in Trans Nzoia County.
