Raila Dominates Majority of The Regions Than Ruto: IRIS Poll

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga dominates in most regions if elections were to be held today, according to the latest  poll by Intel Research Solutions.

The poll, however, showed Ruto trailed Raila in the overall rating  with 50.5 percent of the respondents saying they will back him while 42.2 percent endorsed Odinga.

According to the data released on Thursday, July 21, the DP was ranked as the most preferred presidential candidate in Mt. Kenya region unlike his key competitor Raila Odinga.

In the Mt Kenya East, Ruto won the support of 72.4 percent of respondents while 22.6 percent said Raila is their favourite.

In Mt Kenya West, won the support of 70.9 percent compared to 23.1 per cent who prefer the former Prime Minister.

In the poll, Ruto maintained the lead in Central Rift  with 81.8 percent  while 14.3 backed Odinga.

48 percent sided with Raila in the Maa Rift while 47.5 would vote for Ruto.

Raila enjoys control in most of the region perceived to be his backyard such as Nairobi, Nyanza and Coast.

In the survey, Nyanza remains a crucial bastion of the  ODM leader with 83.2 percent of the respondents tipping him for the top seat in Central Nyanza while 12.4 percent backed Ruto.

In South Nyanza, 56.3 preferred  Raila presidency as compared to Ruto with 38.6 percent.

In the Coast region, Raila won the support of 54.6 percent of respondents while 40.2 percent said Ruto is their choice.

Raila has also won the support of the majority in Nairobi at 52.6 percent as 40.7 were in favour of Ruto.

In the Western  region, majority of the Kenyans preferred Raila at 53.7 percent as compared to Ruto at 40.6.

48.5 of the voters in the North Eastern region said Raila is their favourite while 47.3 would vote for Ruto.

Raila further maintained the lead in South Eastern with 56.1 as compared to Ruto at 39 percent.
