Barbadian singer-turned-fashion and beauty mogul Robyn Fenty popularly known as Rihanna on Tuesday, May 10 announced that she would be launching her mega cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty in Africa.

The singer made the announcement on her social media accounts, listing the various countries that would be the first in the continent to stock the highly acclaimed Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin products, among them Kenya.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment!! @fentybeauty & @fentyskin are finally dropping in AFRICA!!! Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe...we comin at ya May 27th and that’s just the beginning!!! #FentyAfrica,” she wrote.

The post elicited so much excitement from her supporters especially those from the chosen few nations who are itching to get their hands on the products that are often sold out globally.

While this was a win for Kenya as the only East African country on the list, her neighbors found it quite off-putting that they were snubbed, expressing their disappointment in her choice of the region's supplier. 

This escalated into a full-blown Twitter war when a Ugandan lady asked why Kenya was on the list, taking a swipe at the country's economic challenges she implied made it ineligible to stock the products, such as the notorious power connection situation in the country.

"Why is Kenya there? They don’t even have electricity in Nairobi," the user identifying as Atim Charlotte posed.

The ruthless Kenyans On Twitter gang showed up in droves in defence of their country, castigating the Ugandan lady for implying that the country was not eligible to be on the list, taking jibes at Uganda while comparing it to Kenya in terms of the state of affairs from all angles including governance, their currency, and cost of living.

"Name one retired Ugandan president then," a Kenyan Twitter user mocked.

"One thing about Kenyans, they don't allow any other person who isn't Kenyan to talk about our problems," another use named Edgar Kevin remarked.

'You can’t even afford to buy bread, how will you afford Fenty?  Focus on muhogo," another user ridiculed, referencing remarks made by the country's President Yoweri Museveni who told Ugandans to stop complaining about the scarcity of wheat and eat cassava.

The battle went on for hours, forcing the author of the tweet that sparked the feud to concede defeat, asking Kenyans to go easy on her, as it was just a joke.

"Kenyans please release me, it was a joke," Charlotte implored.

Fenty Beauty announced that products would be available at select Lintons Beauty World stores across the country.
