Nairobi, September 12

Estonian President, Kersti Kaljulaid, who has been in the country on an official visit, has caused excitement among Kenyans after she was photographed carrying her own luggage.

Ms Kaljulaid, who left the country in late hours of Saturday, September 12, was seen off by Cabinet Secretaries Monica Juma of Defence and Raychelle Omamo of Foreign Affairs.

The visiting Head of State, in the photos shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is seen carrying her hand luggage as she headed to the plane and as she boarded.

CS Juma, on the other hand, is seen helping her with the handbag before handing it over to her as she boarded the plane.

The photographs elicited mixed reactions online with a majority of Kenyans accusing local political leaders of being 'undisciplined' by 'misusing' their aides to do even the most basic of things.

"An MCA (Member of County Assembly) in Kenya would summon the cavalry to carry that gift bag. Estonia, population is 1.4M and GDP more than 10 times ours...seem to have gotten the memo right. Governance is about service to the citizens, not lording it over subjects. It's still "my helicopter is bigger than yours" on here!," noted a tweep by the name @Oliverwambwire.

Another tweep, @mrinji_ian added: "Carrying her own bags. Almost unheard of in Africa."
