Deputy President William Ruto through his United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party is expected to lead the Kenya Kwanza Coalition that will be be hosting a women's conference at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

In the spirit to champion the role of women in politics, a special request has been issued to media outlets across the country by the coalition, asking that all-female media crews to be deployed to cover the event.

This ,according to the coalition, will be in celebration of women's role in various fields of work.

"We encourage your Media House/Online News Blog to deploy an all Women Crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important role played by Women in all sectors," UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae stated in the media invite.

DP Ruto has been vocal about increasing gender representation in his government, stating that 50 percent of his cabinet will be made up of women.

“It is true that what a man can do, a woman can do better. From personal experience, I can confirm that there are things that women can do better than men. Therefore, the more we keep them out of leadership positions the more we lose,” he said.

He will hence be overseeing the signing of the Kenya Kwanza Women Charter at the event , which is aimed at countering Azimio's Martha Karua wave that has taken the country by storm.

This follows the recent launch of the UDA women's league on Sunday, June 5, where DP Ruto stated he acknowledged the support of women countrywide , especially with the recent opinion polls that have shown tremendous women support for UDA.

“UDA is a women’s party. It has the largest representation of women across the board. All opinion polls indicate UDA is the most popular party in Kenya and has a record majority of women,” he stated.
