Following the vacancies in the offices of Member of the senate for Elgeyo Marakwet, Member of National Assembly Kandara constituency, and Member of the County Assembly for Shela Ward, Lamu county, UDA has called upon all interested and qualified party members to submit their application for party nominations that will be held on November 26, 2022.
Nomination fees will be paid through MPESA pay bill number 888092. The account number will be the aspirant’s ID number. Alternatively, interested candidates can deposit their fees in the UDA account number 0810280788414(equity bank). The nominations fees are not refundable.
For senatorial and parliamentary seats male aspirants will have to part with sh.250,000 as women, youth, and persons living with disability part with 125,000.
For the Member of the County Assembly position, Male aspirants will pay 50,000 as nomination fees, and females, youth, and persons with disabilities pay 25,000 shillings.
The issued statement undersigned by UDA chairman Anthony Mwaura is dated 7th November 2022.
The Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial position was previously held by Kipchumba Murkomen who was appointed Cabinet secretary for Transport and public works.
Kandara’s parliamentary seat was held by Alice Wahome -a three-term member of parliament who resigned upon being sworn in as Cabinet Secretary for water and sanitation.
In a gazette notice dated October 28, 2022, The IEBC announced that the by-elections for the mentioned areas will be held on January 5, 2023.
