Danstan Omari To Petition Appointment of Cabinet Secretaries From Same Region

“The question Kenyans should be asking is; out of 290 constituencies, how is one constituency producing two Cabinet Secretaries…is that the face of the Republic?” said the outspoken lawyer Dunstan Omari during a morning breakfast show.

He also faulted the PSC nominees for appointing two from the same community.

He accused the Kenya Kwanza team of being highly ethnic.

While addressing an interview lawyer Danstan Omari stated that president William Ruto is the head of state for all Kenyans and not a few regions in the country.

He faulted the appointment of Alice Wahome and Njuguna Ndung’u citing that they did not represent the country as they came from the same region.

He also added that the two hailed from the same ward.

Danstan Omari claims that since independence, never have two cabinet secretaries come from the same constituency.

He vowed to petition the appointment of the two cabinet secretaries from the Kandara constituency in court.

“I’ve very firm instructions I’ll go to court,” said the lawyer.

He further questioned the appointment of Nyandarua MP Faith Gitau and Laikipia senator John Kinyua of the United Democratic Alliance to the Parliamentary Service Commission yet they belong to neighboring counties and one ethnic community.

“The head of state is the head of state for everybody in this country. What does that tell Kenyans? That this is not your government, and that is why Raila Odinga is saying no taxation without representation and service. This is a very serious issue.”

He echoed Raila Odinga’s sentiments that equal representation should be the minimum threshold for Kenyans to pay taxes.

Raila on Saturday urged his supporters to boycott payment of taxes if his strongholds will not experience developments. He noted that developments should be spread across the country equally.

"The national government has the responsibility to carry out certain development projects in all these areas otherwise, we shall tell our people to stop paying taxes. Therefore, we don't have to beg the national government to get any development," said Raila.
