Barely a week after the general elections and even before Chebukati makes the female declaration of the presidential elections, David Mwaure has conceded defeat thereby dropping out of the four-horse race. The tallying exercise is still ongoing at the Bomas of Kenya.Waihiga has been trailing in fourth place since the tallying process began on Tuesday 9th August.

In his conceding message he said that he has observed dismal performance in terms of the votes he garnered countrywide.

The Agano Party presidential aspirant stated that he would now be endorsing Rutos presidential bid as his manifesto agrees with Agano Party’s manifesto. David Mwaure alleged that the incumbent deputy president has consistently taken lead in the number of total votes.

"We agree with him on the need to ensure Kenya remains a God-fearing nation. We also agree with him on his pursuit to ensure freedom of worship for all faith is maintained and his promise to ensure the church and other faith are protected," he added.

He said that IEBC chairman should now declare him the winner of the presidential race.

"I wish to concede defeat in the presidential elections if 2022 whose verification is ongoing at Bomas. This I am doing after seeing what my performance has been and after discussions with my team in Bomas," he stated

He now leaves three presidential candidates eyeing the land's top most position: Honourable Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, and Professor George Wajackoya.

The presidential aspirants thanked his supporters who had believed in his manifesto and voted him in as well as his family and friends.

“As we concede, which we hereby do, we want to thank our families, secretariat, families, and those who voted and played for us” added Mwaure.

David Mwaure also urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to remain steadfast and resolute in dispensing the task and mandate given to them by Kenyans.

The verification exercise is on its fifth day as of 14th August 2022 amidst anxiety from Kenyans.

The commission has until 16th August to have declared the winning president. This is according to the constitution that gives IEBC seven days to have announced the president following a general election.
