Marsabit Police Recover Arms, Ammunition In Sting Operation,8 Suspects Nabbed

Police in Marsabit county on Tuesday, May 10 arrested eight suspected militia in a multi-agency security operation launched following a spike of bandit attacks in the area.

In the operation led by the National Police Service (NPS), the eight who were arrested were caught with three AK47 rifles, a G3 rifle, and a general purposing machine gun in their possession.

Apart from the firearms mentioned, the police also confiscated an assortment of 579 rounds of ammunition, 66 spent cartridges and containers of gun oil.

"The operation dubbed ‘Rudisha Amani Marsabit’ also seized an assortment of 579 rounds of ammunition, 66 spent cartridges, and containers of gun oil,” NPS wrote in a statement.

The suspects are currently in custody awaiting arraignment to answer to the charges.

Meanwhile, the operation is set to continue in the region amid a 30 days dusk to dawn curfew imposed by Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i.
