New evidence tabled in the Monica Kimani murder case placed Joseph Irungu aka Jowie's phone number at Denis Pritt Road on the night of the murder.

This was according to Jonathan Limo, a DCI officer attached to Safaricom, who testified in court on Monday, May 9, revealing that only four out of the seven numbers forwarded as evidence were directly connected to the case, and the four belonged to Joseph Irungu, Yassir Mohammed, the deceased businesswoman Monica Kimani and another suspect.

Limo who was the 33rd witness in the case had been tasked with extracting details of the numbers from September 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018, and on September 19, he traced Jowie's number along the Dennis Pritt Road from 16.33hrs to 21.03 hrs and 16 minutes later at 9.19 pm, it was located in Kileleshwa.

At 11:54pm on the same day, Jowie’s number was traced at Nairobi Gospel of God Church Valley Road.

It was later traced at Langata Royal Park and then Langata DOD.

Thereafter on September 20, 2018, his phone was traced at National Housing Corporation in Madaraka, and three days later, his number was traced at Kijabe hospital.

The next day, on September 24, 2018, Jowie Irungu’s number was traced from Kijabe Hospital to Gitaru and back to Lang’ata Royal Park estate.

Investigations revealed that no calls were made from the deceased's phone from September 19, 2018, from 11 pm. It was however traced at Kileleshwa at 9.32 pm, and at exactly 11.06 pm it became untraceable. The last call was an outgoing call made by the deceased at 9.32 pm.

From the data records presented by the witness, Monica’s line was in communication with that of Jowie on September 1.

There was also no communication on Yassir Mohammed's phone from September 18 to 20, 2018. Yassir is said to be Monica's Sudanese boyfriend.

The deceased's body was found at her Lamuria Gardens apartment with injuries to her neck which is located on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt road in Kilimani, Nairobi.
