Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has finally bowed to pressure and reconsidered his decision to appear before the Azimio Deputy Presidential selection panel.

In a letter addressed to the Azimio One Kenya Running mate selection panel, Mr. Musyoka noted that he will face the panel on Tuesday, May 10.

"Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka SC, hereby states that he has decided to honour the invitation to attend interviews for the Azimio One Kenya running mate position that will be conducted by the panel of eminent persons," the letter reads in parts.

His change of tune comes barely days after he announced he will not be taking part in the coalition's running mate vetting process protesting that the whole process was demeaning to his person.

"I want to tell Kenyans that I will not attend the said process. I find the entire thing demeaning to my person and will therefore distance myself from it," the former vice president stated.

The coalition's secretary General, Junet Mohammed explained why the vetting process was a much-needed exercise for the coalition and the country.

In his explainer, the Suna East MP stated that the main reason was to not end up with a repeat of the ongoing feud between President Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.

"The guiding principle in identifying a running mate for the Azimio Presidential candidate is, we don’t want to have a deputy president like William Ruto," Junet remarked.

So far, Mombasa Governor Ali Joho, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, and Narc Kenya Party leader, Martha Karua have undergone the vetting process which began on Monday, May 9.
