Police Arrest Form 3 Student on the Run for Stabbing 12-Year-Old Cousin to Death

A Form 3 student has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his 12-year-old cousin to death on Friday, April 12, 2024, at their home in Kagio, Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the incident, Kirinyaga Police County Commander Andrew Naibei stated that the 17-year-old went into hiding after committing the crime. The deceased succumbed to injuries minutes after she was stabbed.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, April 17, and is being held at the Kagio Police Station for questioning, pending arraignment.

Pauline Wairimu, the deceased's mother told the press that her daughter was at home doing her homework when she was attacked by her cousin over a domestic misunderstanding.

"I went to the market and left my daughter to do her homework with the assailant and when I returned, I was shocked to see her lying on the floor bleeding," the grieving mother narrated.

She was rushed to a private hospital in Kagio where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

"We have since been thrown into mourning after what happened to our daughter," Wairimu said, as tears dripped down her face.

The deceased, a Grade Seven pupil was described by her teachers at Rwang'ondu Primary School as a bright girl who was always top of her class.

Naibei stated that the 17-year-old will face the charges for the crime committed.
