President Uhuru Kenyatta is known to take over the steering wheel once in a while, and so was the case today at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Museum Air Show Festival held at the newly redesigned Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

He arrived at the function in his famous black Mercedes G Wagon accompanied by a motorcade of seven vehicles comprising security personnel and was received by a  Kenya Navy Forces protocol officer.

Also in attendance was Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Mohammed Ali, who accompanied the Head Of Stae to the dais, much to the jubilation of Kenyans who were seated next to the VIP section who waved in admiration.

According to Statehouse, the President joined Kenyans in the impromptu visit where they were treated to scintillating aerobatics and extreme manouvres by Kenya Air Force jets and a rich selection of corporate and civilian aircraft.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ethiopian PM Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali enjoyed a spectacular display of aerobatics by Kenya Airforce jets, and a variety of civilian and corporate aircraft at Saturday's Museum Airshow Festival in Nairobi City County," the statement read.

"Among the showstoppers at the event held at Uhuru Gardens by Kenya Defence Forces and the Aero Club of Kenya were the KAF Turcanos; Mark Henman MX2; Green Eagles Skydive and Skytruck flypast as well as KAF Puma and rappelling," the statement added.

Other participants who showcased their skills included Phoenix Aviation Cessna Sovereign, Kenya Airways Embraer 190 fly-past, Farmland Aviation firefighting display, and aerobatics by Mark Hensman from South Africa among others.

It is nothing out of the ordinary to sight  President Uhuru behind the wheel as he frequents the Nairobi CBD in the G Wagon, meeting civilians in the city where he engages them on various issues pertaining to development.
