Cs George Magoha while speaking at Ofafa Jericho school has reassured parents and other concerned stakeholders that the school calendar will not be disrupted further despite how the elections are playing out.

He promised to work closely with the IEBC to ensure that elections will not disrupt school resumption.

The two counties Kakamega and Mombasa will be conducting their by-elections on the 23rd of August. The counties failed to conduct elections due to a mix-up of ballot papers.

The rescheduled by-elections have the potential for disrupting school activities considering that some schools were used as polling stations.

Magoha was speaking from Embakasi where he commissioned phase 2 of the Competency-Based Curriculum classrooms.

CS Magoha that some of the key decisions would be arrived at after consultations with other ministries in due time.

Part of the deliberations, according to the CS would be fighting out if the by-elections can be conducted in tertiary colleges to allow conducive learning to students undertaking their National exams this year.

"If the students are already in the boarding schools, those students can be for example asked to play games or remain in the hostels," he said.

He suggested students could stay in the dorm for the day to facilitate the smooth conducting of the elections.

Magoha reaffirmed that the safety of children going back to school on Thursday was well taken Care of.

Magoha also thanked stakeholders for supporting him through his term in office even when he was required to make stern and firm decisions.

He admitted that serving in his capacity as CS Education, especially during the Covid-19 era was somewhat challenging because of the hard decisions he needed to make.

"It has not been easy being a CS for education during COVID and for me to move things forward I have been very firm and in between the firmness I have cracked certain jokes," he said.

CS Magoha reiterated that he had fulfilled his mandate.

He aims at completing CBC classrooms across the country before the expiry of his contract. This, he says, will enable him to lay a smooth foundation for his successor.
