Umoja Summit Party presidential aspirant Walter Mong’are alias Nyambane has maintained that he is still intent on clinching the presidency come August 9 despite his disqualification by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday ,June 6.

Mong'are pegs his eligibility to be on the ballot on IEBC's failure to issue him with an official disqualification as well as its decline to take away his nomination certificate when his bid was revoked, after claims that his academic certificates did not meet the qualifications to be in the race.

"We still hold the clearance certificate because we don’t have any official communication of revocation from IEBC,” he noted.

“I am knowledgeable, educated, have gone to school, there are things that can be left to interpretations and others to an argument. I have been cleared and was the first person to be cleared and I believe the honours is to the IEBC to prove otherwise and we will know from the interest of time the truth.”

This to him was still a green flag to go ahead with his campaigns and voter mobilization as he prepares to settle the matter with the electoral body's Dispute Committee , as he believes that his academic credentials were up to par with the IEBC's requirements.

"There is hope, there is a freshness that we need to give ourselves so I am still campaigning and I have no reason not to campaign, am hopeful.” he maintained.

He further stated that according to the results of the  recent InfoTrak opinion polls conducted ahead of the polls, a significant percentage of Kenyans were still undecided, and he was intent on convincing them why he was their best best in the forthcoming polls.

“I saw from a research that came out today that a big chunk of the Kenyan voters is still undecided, so this is a great opportunity for me to tell them that don’t despair be ready to go to the ballot,” Mong’are said in an interview with KTN News on Wednesday, June  8.

He rubbished claims that this election was a two-horse race between Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader Deputy President William Ruto and Azimio One Kenya party leader Raila Odinga, stating that the 4 million Kenyans who had not settled on their preferred candidate in the opinion polls showed promise because it meant that they are still on the lookout for a third option.

"I think am proud to be human, I think am proud to be a man and I will not call myself an animal, while the rest are horses, I think I will need to ride one of the horses to State House,” Mong'are  stated.

The former Director of Youth Programs is hence very hopeful that he was still in the race, and that he believes that he was unfairly ousted yet he had enough proof and qualification to be in the race.
