Nairobi, September 26

Businesswoman and one time media personality, Caroline Gikunda, has launched a dating app for what she describes as an app for 'mature' people looking for real love.

While launching the application on September 25, the entrepreneur expressed hope and optimism that the app would revolutionize dating in the country, stating 'mature' people now have a home to look and get true love.

But who is this Caroline Gikunda and what motivated her to venture into the dating apps world?

Ms Gikunda is a mother of one and a former presenter at the state broadcaster, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). She is the proprietor of Alpha Charlie, a transport and construction materials supplies company headquartered in the coastal town of Malindi but with a branch in Meru, her native home.

She is also the owner and director of Drivers, a rental home that offers accommodation, conferencing and meetings services and located in Malindi.

Her business, Alpha Charlie, is rumoured to be revolutionizing the transport sector in Meru and Milindi.

The mother of one, who late last year rewarded herself with a double cabin brand new Isuzu D-Max, was plunged into the world of singleness after divorcing her former husband, her college sweetheart.

Ms Gikunda was married to a man she schooled with but he later joined the police service, but their union did not last as she may have desired. Since then, details on her relationships or dating have remained scanty with her focus shifting to business.

He dating application, CaroLove, named after her is a premium dating application where users will be vetted and charged a fee before being allowed to become members.

The app will, however, not accommodate 'broke' people as one is required to be financially stable to be admitted.

"Please work and make some money. This will need some money in your pocket. It's why 'Financially Stable' was inevitable," she said.

According to the details seen by now.co.ke, the app will bring together financially stable persons struggling to get partners.

It will enable them plan and take road trips, ghost walks, business talks, romantic dinners as well as motivational talks.

The app will also see members participate in mingling excursions, attend networking cocktails as well as plan an enjoy local and international holidays.
