The Directorate Of Criminal Investigations has reported that a 16-year-old girl allegedly murdered her agemate over what was reported as a tussle for a 2GB memory card.

The teens hailed from Mulot, Bomet county where the incident happened leaving residents shocked over the circumstances that the action played out, as the suspect stabbed her victim on the left side of the chest killing her instantly.

Efforts to rush the deceased to the hospital proved futile after medics at the Longisa district hospital confirmed her dead on arrival.

The incident happened outside a liquor establishment, Sweet Wines and Spirits, located next to West Inn bar in the Mulot Sunset trading centre, which raised eyebrows over what the minors could be doing in such a prohibited area as they were not of age to be roaming such premises.

According to the detectives, the suspect was arrested and is currently in custody at the Mulot police station and is being processed for arraignment.

The matter has evoked all sorts of suspicions owing to the oddity of the incident, prompting the sleuths to widen their scope of investigations to determine whether adults had accompanied the young girls to the liquor shops, and whether prior to their argument they were intoxicated and who was responsible for them.

This comes after Mulot Town has gained a reputation as a haven for notorious mobile money fraudsters, with a large number of suspects nabbed for engaging in criminal activity reported to come from this region.

The town is the gateway to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, and the larger Western tourism circuit, which has played a role in concealing the underground dealings of the commercial center that appears as just a sleepy town at face value.
